The Reserve
Situated between the port of Ortona and the mouth of the river Moro, it is said that, before the construction of the railway tunnel, there was a source where the inhabitants drew their drinking water. It is named after its water that is cold and crystalline. In the past there was a “trabocco”, where you can still see the remains of the beams which formed the structure.
You can see it from the South quay of the port of Ortona. It includes a narrow strip of vegetation equipped for trekking and it stretches up to South, along the old route of the railway. The cliff overlooking the sea is constantly changing because of wind and water erosion. At its feet there is the “caletta Acquabella” with clear water and sea bottoms rich in pebbles and colors ranging from turquoise to blue.
